Happy Halloween! Card

Happy Halloween with Fall Favorites

The students are back at it... back to making cards from the kits my mom puts together for them each school year. This card designed and created by her uses a Stamp of the Month from last fall, Fall Favorites S1209. She also used Liquid Applique to give dimension to the straw of the scarecrow. This was a new technique for the students and allowed them the opportunity to use a heat gun. They loved the effect of seeing the Liquid Applique puff up. With a couple of brads and some raffia, they went home with a great card for a family member or friend to wish them Happy Halloween.

I hope you and yours have a safe and wonderful Halloween.  Enjoy!

Happy Hauntings - WOYWW #230

Happy Hauntings, Cricut cartridge on my work desk.

With Halloween being tomorrow thought I would break out my Happy Hauntings Cricut cartridge and make up some of the images. I cannot express how much faster it is to create these fun images with my pre-cut paper! See my older post here. I made all of these in a matter of 2 hours!

This post brought to you by my weekly desire to share my work desk with fellow artisans around the world through the Stamping Ground blog hosted by Julia Dunnit. Give it a go and share what you are working on, you cannot help but be motivated once you see what others are doing.

Always enjoy your visits to my little corner of the world. I'll be seeing a lot of you soon.

Have a safe and happy Halloween. Enjoy!

10,000 blog views. Thank you!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your visits, comments and support.  As of my
blog check at 6:23 pm on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, my blog has reached 10,000 visits.

HIp HiP HoOrAy (WOYWW #229)

Fellow deskers, I could not wait any longer. Once I saw Julia post this week's WOYWW #229, I had to post! I have made it through the Cricut Create A Friend cartridge, even made a YouTube video of each key's image. Now I am pondering, do I break out another cartridge and begin working through the keys, or create layouts for what is already cut out. With the flip of a coin (in my head)... I am going to just see how the mood moves me from day-to-day.

Here is the opposite side of my desk from last week. In the Tupperware celery container are all of the Create A Friend images ready for their final destination... layouts or cards. Yeah for me! Cheering the success.

I was sad my Halloween coffee mug was out of the frame shot last week. LOVE IT! "The Dancing Pumpkin" video is for me to preview for my mom. She is the volunteer librarian at the school where I teach. It is amazing what she and a friend are doing for the kids. Paper craft projects, games, story time and many other plans in the making. Their restraint... budget. We are a small private school. If you have any ideas, cheap, please do share! Oh yes, back to my description... my adhesive baskets made from clothes line on my sewing machine. My "dumb" phone only for texting benefit, no fancy features. My Cricut all snuggled and my scrap paper supply, as well as, my pencil collection.

Cricut Create A Friend Recap

My work is done here... all images have been cut and glued from the Cricut Create A Friend cartridge.  I have put them all together in a slide show on YouTube to share.

Cricut Create A Friend - Touch Down, Key #11

It is football season. This cut is perfect for those football get-togethers. Cut two of him out in a larger size and dress them in the team colors of the evening. Possibly move them along the wall with some sticky tack to show which team is ahead. I bet the kids who are participating would love this job!

WOYWW #228 - After effects of workshop tornado

Good Wednesday to all you deskers around the world.  My desk for WOYWW #228 a weekly blog for artists around the world hosted by Julia dunnit of Stamping Ground to share their work desks. My desk is not that exciting, in fact, it is a MESS. I have had a busy week and have gone from one task or event to another. When that happens I tend to drop one thing and go with another. The result...

There is a mirror image on the opposite side of my laptop. Piles of paper packs, plastic bags for packaging orders and cut images from the Cricut, a birthday card envelope from my birthday on Monday and my ever faithful cutters and X-acto kit.

Have a fabulous Wednesday! Thanks for coming by and saying "hi". I will be venturing around this evening to see how your desks are looking.

Artbooking Made Easy: Fall into Artbooking

The crushing of leaves underfoot, a briskness to the air when you are out for a walk, picking the perfect pumpkin for carving and loads of candy to be treated. My favorite time of the year is the fall, might be because I was a fall baby (October 14). Close To My Heart's exclusive Artbooking Cricut cartridge is the perfect compliment to your fall photos. Watch this video full of ideas for using the cartridge to celebrate fall. Featured are pages 72 and 73 Autumn Harvest keys for overlays, embellishing and matting.

Visit my Close To My Heart Independent Consultant website to order your Artbooking Cricut cartridge, cardstock and stamp sets to recreate these lovely layouts.

Cricut Create A Friend - Let's Play Hoops, Key #10

For the girl basketball player, here is a "pretty in pink" friend using key #10. I have in mind who I want to make this image for, but the pink will NOT go over well :-) That is what I love so much about the Cricut, the versatility. Remember going to the local scrapbook store or craft store and having to purchase what they had as far as die cuts. You did not always get the colors of your choice. Now we can personalize each and every cut from our Cricut cartridges.

Cricut Create A Friend - MVP Basketball Player, Key #9

Hanging out in my craft room this weekend working with my Cricut Create A Friend cartridge once again. I have shared with you before how I have my cardstock cut in 4x4 or 4x6 squares and ready to use when the moment hits me that I want to sit down and use my Cricut. I like to batch. When I first received the cartridge I cut out the bodies and hair. Now my focus is cutting each image out and assembling them all. Here are some photos of my process.

All pieces cut out and separated by image ready to be glued

More of the images waiting to be glued. Yes, I love milk and need to be drinking my daily water.

Found a Tupperware celery keeper at Goodwill, perfect for storing the individual images until I glue them all.

Once they are glued, I sort them into plastic baggies until I need them for a layout or card.

Today's first completed image was from key #9 MVP basketball player.

How do you assemble your Cricut images?  Do you like to batch or work on an as needed basis?

WOYWW #227 - In between again at breakfast time

This Wednesday you have caught me in between projects. Mostly due to the fact that I actually feel on top of things for my upcoming workshops... Now that I have said that in print, I pray my plans will not be jinxed :-) Here you are fellow deskers of the Stamping Ground blog hosted by Julia Dunnit my Wednesday morning photo of my desk.

The top photos shares my scrap paper table top bins for workshops, fabric covered Kleenex box, assorted adhesive rolls, pencils galore, buttons, ink bottles and more photos to be put in storage for the day I actually return to scrapbooking.  My main desk houses my computer, much needed light sources, paper stacks to be sorted and filed, along with pieces of leftover materials from Sunday's gathering.

Yes, you caught me having my breakfast of Real Medleys oatmeal cup and milk. Breakfast of teacher champions :-)

Have a wonderful week and I will be seeing you this evening when I visit your desks around the world.

PRE-REGISTRATION by October 9! Huntington Scrapbook Club - Workshop on the Go October 2013

October 21 I will be starting a Scrapbook Club. As a participant you would have an opportunity to be the "hostess" of a club night once or twice a year (based on a 10 month commitment, no July or Dec.).  Once a minimum of 5 participants have joined, a rotation schedule will be made based on the order of which participants joined the club to earn the hostess rewards for the month (a minimum of $25 once 5 are participating). Each month we will focus on a Close To My Heart Workshop On The Go kit ($29.95 + shipping, includes all the materials to create two 2-page layouts). I will even share a third two-page layout and a card idea which can be made with the same kit. Since the materials have to be ordered ahead of time, it is important to pre-register and pay by the dates I have listed for each club date. It is as easy as going to my Close To My Heart website and joining my October Workshop to place your order for the Huntington Workshop On the Go.

If you are unable to attend a club night, you are asked to still purchase the kit each month to remain a participant and not lose your place in line to be hostess. Can't get here from where you are, you can still join. I will share photos and measurements of the extra projects with you after the club of the month has been held.

Please register by Oct. 9.

Here are my samples for the October Huntington Workshop On The Go Club projects:

Huntington Paper Pack - Gathering Projects

Here are the projects I showed how to do at a gathering. Products used are the Huntington paper pack, assorted colors from the Enchantment cardstock and Exclusive Inks. The stamp used was the September Stamp of the Month, Poster Tidings. It is masked in order to have the two colors, Autumn Terracotta and Cocoa. I just love the owl, branch and moon from the Cricut Artbooking cartridge, the pumpkin is also from the same cartridge.

October 21 is Scrapbook Club night, we will be using the Huntington Workshop On The Go. Click here to see the samples. Contact me by Oct. 9th to pre-register (Order and pay $29.95 + $4.95 shipping) to join in. You do not have to be in attendance at the club night to make a commitment. Cricut Create A Friend - #1 Teacher (October 5th is World Teacher's Day)

Just the title all teachers hope they will receive at some point in their teaching career.  Create A Friend key #8, #1 Teacher. Through the years I have taken many pictures at school, this will come in handy for a great scrapbook layout of my classes.

WOYWW #226 - Teaching Calligraphy

It has been years since I have had out my calligraphy tools. The wonderful fellow artists on Julia Dunnit's Stamping Ground weekly posts for WOYWW (What's on Your Work Desk Wednesday) has given me confidence in myself and my ability to dive right in.  Check out all of the desks from around the world and the great artwork being created on them.

Here you can see my samples from when I was explaining to my sophomore art class how to be sure your tip is at the correct angle to get the thin and thick lines of letters. Carson is a student, his name is great for showing a variety of letters. It feels good to be back at it, calligraphy, that is.

Do you have any tips on how to teach the technique of calligraphy? We, as a class, could use some.

Back to School layout - Artbooking and Create A Friend

Good Labor Day weekend to you all!

I have a four day weekend after three intense work days getting the school up and running for the students' return on Wednesday.  Our school was blessed with new equipment, so we had to rearrange and work with getting things in order and set up.  Then there are all the blood borne pathogen, child abuse, etc. trainings we have to go through each year as required by the state.  Sometimes we walk away from a day at work and wonder when we get to focus on what we need... Lesson plans!

In honor of back-to-school, I have been playing with my newest Cricut cartridges Artbooking and Create A Friend.  Here is a double page layout combining the two.  Artbooking - overlay/notebook paper edge were cut at 11" (no real dial) and Create A Friend - the students were cut at 3 3/4" (no real dial).  Artbooking scrapbook layouts make it so easy to cut and piece a layout together.  All you need to do is embellish. EASY!

I have pre-cut 4" squares in my stash.  To ease the cutting by not having to keep unloading and adding a new piece of paper and reloading, I line them all up and just re-position the blade where necessary.

Visit my Close To My Heart Independent Consultant website to browse and shop 24/7.  Please follow my blog for updates on what I am up to, just click on the link, left side in the sidebar.  Enjoy!
