Scrapbooking, Cardmaking, and Paper Crafting in Aumsville, Oregon

Are you a paper crafter seeking a place to meet others who love to create with paper, rubber stamps, inks, embellishments, stickers, embossing and so many more products? Then you need to be joining in on all the fun we have at my workshops and clubs as a Close To My Heart (CTMH), Independent Consultant. A typical month consists of a card workshop (six cards) within the first week of the month, a two-page scrapbook layout the second week of the month and a club night either the third or fourth week of the month.

What is the difference between a workshop and club night? The answer is very simply that the six cards and two-page layout workshops are creations I have come up with using CTMH products and various techniques. I then prepare and cut all the materials necessary to make the items. On the night of the workshop, all you have to do is stamp, distress, glue down and embellish the materials supplied at a cost of $10. The workshops are typically 6:00-9:00 pm on Thursday evenings.

As for a club night, the projects are selected by the club members (you and others) from the Close To My Heart Workshops On The Go (WOTG) kits within the Annual Inspirations Idea Book. The kits consist of all the materials necessary to create either 15 cards (5 each of 3 designs) or 2 two-page scrapbook layouts. Supplies included in the kits range from cardstock, background and texture paper, stamp sets, embellishments and the instructions on how to complete the project. I supply the work space, Cricut machine for any required Cricut cuts, Exclusive Inks pads, adhesives, and assistance for completing the WOTG projects. The kits range from $24.95 to $29.95 plus $4.95 shipping. Once the projects are made, all remaining supplies are yours to keep. There is no additional cost for coming to club night. See the right hand sidebar for more information about clubs. The club nights are typically 6:00-9:00 pm on Thursday evenings.

The upcoming November workshops will be focusing on Thanksgiving. Here are the six cards for the card workshop on November 6. Registration is closed, but contact me anyway for a possible opening.

Here is the Thanksgiving two-page layout for the November 13 scrapbook workshop using the Pathfinding Paper Packet X7186B, and the CTMH exclusive Cricut cartridge collections, register by October 27 to attend:

Birthday Box Card - Football Theme

Hey sports fans! After receiving a box card from my mom for my birthday and being encouraged by a friend, I have tried it on my own. I have used the Artbooking Cricut cartridge to cut the footballs and score sign, as well as the shapes. I then stamped the shapes to give them some texture and placed white behind the footballs so they would pop. The football paper is from my stash, Paper Pizazz.

Here are the steps (inspired by Dina Kowal, Splitcoast Stampers)

8 1/2" x 12"

Score at 2 3/4", 5 1/2", 8 1/4", 11"

Cut off a 2" x 12" strip, save for later

Turn the 6 1/2" x 12" piece once to the left and score at 2 3/4 "

Cut up 2 3/4" to the last score line at all four perpendicular lines

Cut a tab at the 11" score line from the edge of the cardstock and remove

Cut the 2" x 12" strip at 4 3/4" from the end with the 1" score line

Cut in half lengthwise to create two strips, 1" x 4 3/4"

Fold the tabs back as scored line

Top view of the tabs folded

Decorating the box card -
Cut patterned Paper:
1 inside back panel - 2 1/2" x 6 1/4"
3 lower panels (outside only) - 2 1/2" x 3 1/2"
6 upper panels (sides and front, inside and outside) - 2 1/2" square

1 solid (outside back panel) 2 1/2"x 6 1/4" note I used mine on the inside instead to stamp a sentiment

Adhere each piece centered on base panels (outside of box, my white is on the other side)

Do the same on the other side (inside of box)

Fold at 5 1/5" and fold in tab, glue and adhere

Tab with glue, ready to be attached to opposite side

Sides glued to create the "box"

Glue the folded tabs on the 1" x 4 3/4" pieces

Attach inside, aligned with top edge and place with tabs to the back and butted up to one another

Now to be creative with embellishments, I used Artbooking Cricut cartridge to cut out footballs, score titles, circles and pennants.

I stamped the circles and pennant for texture, layered the footballs on white cardstock and glued toothpicks to their backs for mounting into the box.

Here is the completed box card.

Hope you enjoyed today's box card. Give it a try and post your creation down below for all to enjoy. Please visit my Close To My Heart Independent Consultant website to shop/browse the products, tips and techniques at

Place Settings ?!

As you may know, I am a middle/high school teacher by day. The areas of which I teach in are college/career, yearbook, art, home economics and health.  Today in the 9th grade career class (life skills), the students were asked to create a formal place setting. Well, in my classroom kitchen I have very little traditional items of which you would find on a formal table. With that known fact, I challenged my 10 students to be creative with what they had available to them in the entire classroom. They met my challenge with the use of soup cans as cups, plastic lids as plates, notebook paper napkins, pots and pans lids for plates, and notebook paper plates.  Here are the results:

You can see they also used the cups we use in art to rinse paintbrushes.

You cannot find a regular plate in my kitchen, but you can find a glass relish dish.

A small gift box given to one of the students this morning worked as a cup.

The lid from a pot was used in place of a place, but the knife would not stay, so they taped it on. Kleenex makes a great napkin also.

A the final entry uses a pizza baking pan as a plate.

I'd have to say that my ninth graders are pretty creative. And yes, they did put the dishes all back in place. We are working on taking responsibility as well.  Some of the easiest to clean up were the paper plates and napkins which were just tossed in the garbage. Easy clean up.
