Stash Busters: Using Punches on a 12 x 12 Scrapbook Layout - Boarding Cappuccino (August 2016)

Hi Paper Crafters,

Today I am sharing my Stash Busters layout and video for the YouTube hop on using our punches. Our purpose, as a group, is to encourage one another to use up our supplies from our stash. Let us show you how we have used paper punches to create great layouts, cards, etc. Be sure to watch, like, subscribe each person's video. Nothing helps lift a person's spirits more than knowing someone is at least watching.

My layout is of a time we cat sat for a friend. I have used punches for the "Cappuccino" title, circles for the three areas of embellishments, and three different border punches for the layering behind the photos. In my video I explain to you my process for creating this layout.

12 x 12 Scrapbook Layout - I'm Hurt (August 2016)

Hi Paper Crafters,

Today I am sharing a complimentary page to my St. Patrick's Day layout. Here are the photos of my hand wrapped up from an injury I caused by punching a paper towel dispenser. One of those stupid things we do in our lives that we shake our head at...

Since I recorded the video and took photos, I did come across a hand x-ray sticker that fits perfectly on the band-aid.

12 x 12 Scrapbook Layout - St Patrick's Day (August 2016)

Hi Paper Crafters,

A St. Patrick's Day layout. The photos were taken on March 17, but the photos are not truly about the day being St. Patrick's Day. I have to admit, I collect a LOT of themed papers, stamp sets, embellishments and stickers, but I do not necessarily take theme specific photos. That is okay, you can still use the products on your pages for the use of their colors and decoration purposes. Much like I have on this layout.

Here is a video on how I put the layout together:

12 x 12 Scrapbook Layout - Accident Recovery (August 2016)

Hi Paper Crafters,

It is my last Monday of summer break. It always goes so fast, but this year I feel I have gotten a lot of personal organization completed. This will be so helpful in the evenings and weekends throughout the school year to remain on task with my scrapbooking goals.

For my current layout I used stamping for my border. The black is CTMH archival black ink. Colored pencils were used to color in the cars. Stickers are used around the journaling space.

Earlier in the year my son and his girlfriend were involved in an automobile accident. The result was my son's car being totaled, sad day. These photos are of the two after they each found a car. This truly is my son's first car purchase as the other car was a gift from my husband and I for high school graduation. Proud parent day :-)

12 x 12 Scrapbook Layout - Marriage Certificate/54th Wedding Anniversary (August 2016)

Hi Paper Crafters,

The Ferguson clan has heard wedding bells twice in 2016. In March my niece was married and one of my four nephews was married in June. Wow, it is hard to believe that these kids are growing up so fast. Today's layout share is of my niece and her husband with their marriage certificate.

The products for this layout are again from my stash of old supplies, but they are stunning. The lace paper is from way back when I began scrapbooking. I am sure I found it at an office supply store. The doilies have been laying around in my classroom, so brought some home to use, another idea I have scraplifted from other YouTubers. All of the stickers are from long ago as well and do not have brands on them. I am not one to keep the packaging for most of my products due to the "real estate" it can take up in my storage systems. Sorry about that, if anyone ever knows a brand of something I use, please share.

The facing page is of my in-law's 54th anniversary. We celebrated at a local Chinese restaurant. Same products have been used for complimentary purposes.

12 x 12 Scrapbook Layout - Valentine's Day Memorabilia (August 2016)

Hi Paper Crafters,

Wow, I sure did feel the effects of my labor yesterday. After working so hard to truly take the time to organize my paper crafting supplies, I am getting serious about my scrapbooking. There is such ease in pulling themed papers, stickers, and embellishments. I am not wasting a lot of time trying to find what I am thinking I want to use. Plus, after handling most of my supplies, I have a visual record in my head of what I can remember seeing. I cannot encourage you enough to take some time and organize your supplies by theme, color, etc. I was not being productive with my stash being in a mishmash state.

The other avenue I have taken to keep motivated is jumping around between albums. This week I have been working through my 2016 album. These are fresh moments that I can remember more about what my feelings were at the time. If there is one thing I am good at, it is forgetting things. It is recommended that you keep current with your scrapbooking, then go back to older photos and memorabilia.

One of the layouts I completed yesterday is from Valentine's Day. I did not have people photos, but I have photos of gifts and the cards I received. The paper used is from Close To My Heart's Heartstrings (retired). You can see I used one of the kraft envelopes from my Tuesday Morning haul. There is a pamphlet about the Sarri's chocolate covered pretzels my husband had sent to me at school inside.

If I would have glued down each item individually this would have been a two page layout. By adding the strip at the bottom to hold the cards in place, I made this all work on the one page. The strip is both glued and stapled to help the cards stay in place.

12 x 12 Scrapbook Layout - Chinese New Year (August 2016)

Hi Paper Crafters,

In honor of the Chinese New Year, I have created a layout and a video on the process of how I created it. Feeling so great in that I am working through my photos and memorabilia. It will take a while to catch up, if ever I will.

How are your summer projects coming along? Have you met any of your goals? Only a couple weeks left of my summer break, some have already returned to school.

I am in preparations for an upcoming YouTube channel hop I will be featured in as a team member. We are called the Stash Busters. The focus of our group is to use products from our stash we have neglected to use or have hoarded. The first hop will be on Saturday, August 27 featuring projects designed with paper punches. Time to dig out your punches, dust them off and be ready to be amazed by the teams creations. More details to come...

Scrapbooking Haul - Tuesday Morning, Fussy Duck, and Aunt Bee's House (A...

Hi Paper Crafters,

Enabler Alert! Yes, others have shared their haul videos and enticed me to take a trip to Tuesday Morning to check out their scrapbooking products. Score! Found a few great items for great prices. Spent the rest of the day shopping at local home goods stores, The Fussy Duck and Aunt Bee's House, which feature antiques and handmade items. My mom and I had some great laughs as we saw items we used to have or still do. Took a few minutes to create a video showcasing my "finds."

12 x 12 Scrapbook Layout - Snow (August 2016)

Hi Paper Crafters,

Here is today's layout featuring our first snow of 2016. As a teacher, my fingers are crossed for some snow days in December. Can I see a raise of hands for those in agreement with me?!

Beginning tomorrow we will be having record high temps here in the Willamette Valley located in Oregon. To help cool us all off a bit I have created a snow layout. My focus for this layout was to make use of my paper punches, I used some punched snowflakes. 12 x 12 Scrapbook Layout - Flash the Sloth (August 2016)

Hi Paper Craters,

Today I have been working on layouts for my 2016 scrapbook. I truly feel I have the reorganization completed to a point that it is good enough for me to focus on creating again. About time, school will be starting up before I know it, then I will be back to only having evenings and some of the weekends for creating. Sound familiar? :-)

In January, I met up with my sister-in-law at an outlet mall for coffee and catch up time. We did some shopping too. I found a sloth Ty Beanie Baby at a small novelty store, and I found Flash the Sloth in the Disney Store. Have you seen Zootopia? I have not yet, but I love the DMV trailer for the movie and had to buy Flash for my craft room. He helps me remember to keep on working away at things and not become to lazy and unfocused.

Supplies used are from my stash, as well as new products I have been anxious to use. Thickers stickers for title and a Newton's Nook "In Slow Motion" stamp set for the sloth stamped on the journaling card.

Card Making Process - Card Makeover (August 2016)

Hi Paper Crafters,

I am back with an update on the card kits I am working through. Last night I worked on cards I had come up with for Easter. I used the Kaleidoscope Workshop on the Go (retired) from the 2015-2016 Annual Inspirations Idea Book to create Easter themed cards using the same card layout patterns. For the Easter cards, instead of using the Kaleidoscope paper pack (retired), I used the Penelope paper pack (retired) from the Seasonal Expressions Jan-Apr 2016 idea book. Stamps used are also from the spring idea book, Spring Critters and coordinating thin cuts.

I realize you can no longer order these products from my Close To My Heart website, but you can see how to use older instructions/patterns for new papers and stamp sets. You could even switch the direction of the cards between vertical and horizontal for even more variety and change.

Card Making Process - Pre-made card kits (August 2016)

Hi Paper Crafters,

Where does the time go... I did not realize a whole week has gone by without a post. I am on summer break, boy does the time fly by. I will be back in the classroom before I know it, or even ready.

Though I have not been too present on my blog this week, I have been working in my craft room when time allowed. I now have the card table of product emptied and inter-sorted in my existing craft room storage containers. It feels so good to have a big part of the organizing completed before summer ends. I know, I am supposed to be working on my layout goal, well, I am probably a better organizer.

While going through my rooms and sorting projects and products, I came across two shoe boxes full of card kits. These card kits are from people canceling their spot at workshops, extra kits for last minute registrations, and for use in future YouTube videos. As you can see, the pile was too vast to hang on to for only YouTube. I plan to slowly work through all of these card kits until finished. I will have a great supply of handmade cards on hand. Who knows, I may do a few videos along the way.

This brings me to the Christmas cards I made this last Saturday. My mom had given me kits for two different shaker cards several years ago. They have been sitting in the shoe box ever since. Well, they are finally completed. Below are photos of my kits to complete, as well as the two cards I made multiples of with my kitten, Allie. She sat in my arm for at least an hour while I colored the elf and packages on the second shaker card.

Let me know how you are doing with a card stash of handmade greeting cards for your family and friends. I think I will be good for a while.
